Petrified fern is typically found far south of Tasmania around Lune River. These ferns date back 180 million years, during the Jurassic period and belong to the Osmundacaulis genus.  They are valued for their incredible patterns in agate and jasper.

Petrified fern forms when silica-rich water, heated by volcanic activity, soaks through plant material, gradually replacing organic cells with minerals. This specimen has slivers of blue chalcedony, just over 4 cm long, on a vegan-friendly faux leather necklace (65cm).

Mohs hardness of 7.

Care

To maintain the beauty and integrity of your jewellery, we recommend treating it with love and care.

Gentle washing with soap and water can effectively preserve its longevity.

We encourage you to remove jewellery before washing and engaging in manual activities such as gardening, cattle wrangling, skydiving, Muay Tai and housework.

Ring Sizing

Getting the correct ring size can be tricky. The most accurate method is to have your fingers measured at a jewellery store (any local jeweller should offer free sizing).

You can also measure an existing ring at home – all you need is a ring that fits you well and a ruler.

Measure the distance across the inside of the ring. Make sure to measure across the middle of the ring, where it's widest! All our ring sizes are given in Australian/UK, American and Asian sizes as well as the diameter too.
